Charlie's Mandalas

Memories, Dreams & Reflections
C. G. Jung
The entire book is worthwhile.

First, Break All the Rules
Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman
Learn how to measure the capability of your organization for great performance with 12 simple questions. Great book for the out-of-the-box thinkers.

Now, Discover Your Strengths
Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D.
Learn your talents and how to apply them.

King, Warrior, Magician, Lover
Robert Moore
Good book for understanding one perspective of the "crisis in modern masculinity."

Saturday's Child: Encounter with the Dark Gods
Janet Dallet
Good book to gaining insight on how a Jungian analyst confronts her own shadow in her work as a therapist.

Psyche at Work
editted by Murray Stein and John Hollwitz
Good book for learning what is happening with efforts to implement Jung's theories in the workplace. Favorite pieces are "Depth Consultation" and "Dealing with an Organization's Shadow Aspects."

The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious
C. G. Jung
Favorite piece is from page 290 forward - "A Study in the Process of Individuation."

Finding What You Didn't Lose
John Fox
Great "how-to" book on writing poetry.

The Abandoned Child
Kathrin Asper
Great book to explore idea of "the wound of abandonment." I got the most from Part Two: Self-Estrangement.

Once Upon a Midlife
Allen Chinen, M.D.
A collection of fairy tales that explore midlife crises - you have heard some of them.

The Soul's Code
James Hillman
Enjoyable reading that focuses on destiny and vocation, a little elitist for my taste.

The Aryan Christ, the Secret Life of Carl Jung
Richard Noll
Noll has a big ax to grind on Jung's neck, but it's good to read what a major detractor has to say about one of my heroes.

Archetypes
Anthony Stevens
This book started my trail to Jung. He tries to define the archetype and how it is revealed in humanity.

The Fifth Discipline
Peter Senge
A must read for changing organizations. Unfortunately it ignores the impact of the unconscious and focuses on clear thinking as the rescue.

When Corporations Rule the World
David Korten
Great book for imagining what the world will look like when McDonalds gets through with it.

Images of Organization
Gareth Morgan
A tough book to read, but try Chapter 2 - Organizations as Machines. You'll see some of your organization in his thoughts.

The King and the Corpse
editted by Joseph Campbell
Please read "The King and the Corpse", page 202. Most powerful fairy tale I have read.

Nuts
Kevin and Jackie Frieberg
Consultant puffery on Southwest Airlines. Lots of great ideas for breathing life into a dead organization.

What Really Matters
Tony Schwartz
Cool book on search for self. Great chapter on dreams - Chapter 7, "Waking Up."

Blindness
Jose Saramago
Have to put a novel on this list. This book will really make you think!

Sitting in the Fire
Arnold Mindell
Great book for facilitators. Asks you directly to identify how your shadow emerges in your work.

The Harlot by the Side of the Road
Jonathan Kirsh
Solid book about the bible and how we have avoided some of its truths. Check out Lot's story.

A Little Course in Dreams
Robert Bosnak
Want to start a dream circle or learn more about interpreting dreams? This will help.

Co-Dependent No More
Melody Beattie
A personal favorite for learning how your shadow shows up in dysfunctional relationships.

Prince to King
Michael Gurian
Great journey book for becoming more conscious of the masculine. Good for fathers/teenage boys.
